One of the things I've purchased on Amazon from Nigeria is a pair of Levi's Men's 505 Regular Fit Jeans. I bought it for $39.99 and I had to pay extra costs for international shipping and custom duties since I bought it together with some other clothes.

You should note that Amazon doesn't ship clothes and jeans directly to Nigeria so I made use of a US shipping agent and they sent it to my home address in Nigeria through DHL and I got it withing 5 working days after Amazon had delivered to my US address.

The cost of international shipping for jeans through a courier like DHL depends on a couple of things such as the weight and size. A pair of Levi jeans fit for my size weighed about 3 pounds and I also noted it when shopping on Amazon. I also used the shipping cost estimator which my US shipping agent provided and noticed that 3 lbs would cost me about $70 to get it in Nigeria.

The $70 shipping fee is just the cost per unit for getting an international delivery by DHL or Fedex but cost per unit can be reduced when you buy in bulk e.g. 10 pairs. 10 pair of jeans would weight about 30 lbs and the estimated shipping cost would be $340 hence that gives about $34 per unit bringing the total cost of the jeans to about $74 excluding custom duties.

You may also have to pay for custom duties by the time your package arrives Nigeria and by then DHL or your courier company would inform you. The duties would normally be a percentage(20% as at 2015) of the total cost of the item you were sent and that would include the purchase cost as well as the international shipping/delivery cost.

In terms of custom duty, you should also know that the Nigerian customs has introduced an additional levy known as levy rate on imported clothes and this is at 20% apart from the normal import duty of 20% being charged. VAT is at 5% too. So, expect to pay about 45% extra as total cost for your imported clothes. I don't know if there is a minimum value for which it may be exempt or payable or if small imports are exempted but you should expect it.

Given the cost of importing jeans into Nigeria through air by DHL, it may be better to just buy it from the local market such as boutiques close to you if they have what you want and at the right price. Personally, for me, I didn't see what I wanted at local stores and so I purchased it at Amazon.
