Useful things every Nigerian home needs

Living in your home in Nigeria is not all about buying and moving into the house but it also about providing a number of useful accessories that would make your home a bit more habitable.

I've compiled a list of some of the common things every modern Nigerian home needs and I've listed them below:

1. Mattresses: This is one basic thing your home cannot do without because it is on it you will have to lie down and sleep on a daily basis. The type of mattress you have determines how comfortable your sleep would be. It's best to go for high quality mattresses.

2. Television: This is basically for entertainment and news. Without television, life gets a bit boring especially for a single person unless you have a large family that engages in a lively discussion all the time. TVs make it easier to stay and relax at home and also get to know what's going on in the real world

3. Light bulbs: They allow you to light up your rooms and doorways so that you don't stay in darkness. They are most useful during the night.

4. Toasting machine: Want to make a quick meal with bread? You can use a toasting machine and then some slices of bread and eggs. It allows you to toast bread within 5 minutes.

5. Computer: With the word going into the computer age, it becomes unusual not to have access to your computer at home for some small jobs or social networking. A computer lets you computer things faster and makes life easier. It allows you to store your important documents in digital format as well as connect to other computers using the internet

6. Fridge and Freezers: Every home needs a fridge nowadays for keeping their food stuff for longer periods. Freezing or cooling food and drinks make them last longer than they normally would on the shelf.

7. Electric fan: This is an electric device that helps to circulate air in your home and hence keeps it better ventilated and cooler. Every home needs one.

8. Stereo and Video Player: Need to listen to good music audio? Then you need a stereo player at least. A video player also is good as it allows you to watch pre-recorded videos on your tv.

9. Furniture: Chairs and tables are needed by every home so that people and guests are not left standing. a chair is good for relaxing when one is not sleeping.

10. Air conditioner: Nigeria is a hot country and most families now have air conditioners for cooling their homes especially in the hot afternoons. There is a limit

11. Washing machine: This makes it easier for you to wash your clothes and other fabric materials. You can wash with your bare hands but a washing machine makes your life easier.

12. Cooker: It can be a gas/electric cooker or kerosene stove. You need it for cooking most of the food modern man normally eats

13. Cooking pots, cutleries, cups and plates
Curtains are all needed in a regular home.

14. Toiletries and tissue paper: Soap, Shampoo, toothpaste, Tissue paper e.t.c. are needed in the home for answering nature's call and for taking care of your body.

15. Pressing Iron: You need to look smart and good in your clothes and it won't make sense if they were rumpled. The pressing iron straightens out your clothes.
