Before, before, as we say in Nigerian English, it used to be hard or almost impossible for a Nigerian resident to buy things on US websites like Amazon and that was mostly because Nigerians did not have access to card payment platforms mostly accepted by those websites such as Visa and Mastercard. Nowadays, it's become almost a normal thing for Nigerian banks to issue those cards which are now becoming acceptable throughout the world.

One of the coolest places where you can use your Visa or Mastercard is at the Amazon shopping website and it doesn't matter if it's in Naira or Dollars, it works on Amazon.

As an online buyer, I've bought a lot of cool stuff from Amazon ranging from laptops, mobile phones, memory cards, computer accessories, clothes, shoes, digital cameras, flexible solar panels, car parts, books and so on. There is a very large inventory of stock available at Amazon that sort of makes it a one stop destination for all your shopping needs. All you need do is think of whatever it is you want to buy or what you need for your home or office and chances are that you'll find it at Amazon.

How does one buy things on Amazon if he is living in Nigeria? How will payments be made? How will items be delivered? Does Amazon really deliver or ship items to Nigeria?

Well, first of all, Amazon delivers certain things to Nigeria and these are mostly books and DVDs. For most other things however, Amazon doesn't deliver to Nigeria but would only ship to a US address and so you just need to setup a business address with a US agent for that.

Things you'll need for shopping on Amazon from Nigeria
=============
- A Visa/Mastercard
- US mail forwarding address

How to do it
==========
- Get a US mail forwarding address
- Go to Amazon.com and register for an account if you haven't done so
- Use the US address as your default shipping address
- Order for items on Amazon and let it be delivered to that US business address
- You'll get an email when your items have been received from Amazon and you'll confirm by logging into your mail forwarding service account to check the items
- You request for it to be shipped to Nigeria and you'll be charged shipping costs
- Items will be delivered to your address in Nigeria by DHL or Fedex

It is that easy. Now you can buy anything you want from Amazon and get it here in Nigeria. Just ensure that what you are buying is not prohibited by the Nigerian Custom service.
