Well, I purchased it at a price of N200 for a bunch weighing 1 kg at a local market in Surulere Lagos. That's about 0.56 USD in October 2017.

One of the things I love buying as a Nigerian is a bunch of bananas as they taste really good and are nourishing to one's body. Bananas are abundantly available in Nigeria for most of the year round but from my experience, their prices are much more higher in cities than in the rural areas where they are produced by farmers.

In Lagos where I live, I noticed that the prices are also cheaper at open local markets than at supermarkets or grocery stores. The prices are the local markets are negotiable while the prices at the supermarkets are fixed as they come with a price tag.

I recently purchased a small bunch of bananas weighing about 1kg for N200 after negotiating the price from N300. I also noticed that the price was much higher at Shoprite Surulere and that's probably because they sold only imported bananas which come with a price tag of N599.99 per kg. That's about 3 times the price of locally produced Bananas sold at local markets.

Bananas are a good source of potassium which helps in lowering the blood pressure. They also contain antioxidants which help in fighting cancer. They are a good source of fibre which aids digestion. It also is a god source of natural carbohydrates which gives energy.

Bananas also contain a good number of vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin A, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, manganese, magnesium, folate, riboflavin, niacin and iron.
